Company history

It all began in 1975, when Huber immigrated to Canada to work for a Landscaping company in Mississauga. Martha immigrated to Canada in 1977 and they started their business growing leeks, cauliflower, and cabbage. They rented a farm on Eglington and Cawthra Rd. Purchasing more varieties of produce from local farmers and the food terminal they were selling products to restaurants and farmer's markets. The company name was then called pleasure farm. Sarah was born in 1981, Martha started a fruit stand on their property which was located on Trafalgar Rd, in Hornby. Shrubs and small trees were added. Soon their passion for plants grew and looked for a wider variety of plant material. Small trees on their nursery were growing larger and customers needed the service to have the trees delivered and planted.

In 1999 the company name was changed to Arbor Garden Centre and Nursery. Arbor is the latin name for tree, or arbour a free standing construction used in gardens. Huber started landscaping. His farming background in Holland, and his agriculture education, but most of all his passion working with nature helped him pursue his career in the landscaping field.

The garden centre and nursery has become a family tradition. Currently Sarah works full time in the garden centre as a certified Landscape Technician, and Designer. Donovan works full-time as a Landscaper, and Ivan and Joshua part-time landscaping.
